Hello everyone in the State of Hockey! We haven't posted anything new onto our home page here in quite awhile, but rest assured we have been busy working on site updates "behind the scenes" with LOTS of new historical content, historical rink content/images, and player profiles that will be updated soon. The storefront portion of our site consumes a lot of our "time and energy" - especially before the holidays - in which; takes away from out true passion "Minnesota Hockey History", and the historical content, player interviews, photos, etc. within the pages of Vintage MN Hockey. This being said, it is the storefront that "drives this fire", and pays the bills sort of speak; for us to keep this train rolling here at VMH.com since we are not corporation sponsored! In the coming weeks, we will be adding numerous interviews - that we have conducted to date - new historical images, and new player bios to the site that have been on "moth-balls" awaiting us to have the proper time to add to the pages of this archive that will forever be.....Vintage Minnesota Hockey.com Please follow us on our Vintage Minnesota Hockey Twitter account for ongoing historical updates.
On Friday, December 30, 2011, Benilde St. Margaret Sophomore, Jack "Jabby" Jablonski, was chasing a puck behind the goal line when a check from behind sent him head first into the boards. His injury was severe: two broken vertebra and a severed spinal cord; his life changed in an instant.
Jack grew up playing hockey in the Minneapolis (Storm) Hockey Association in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Minneapolis Hockey Association – along with the Jablonski family – are driving change in the game to eliminate dangerous play and to make hockey safer for young hockey players everywhere.
Jack's tragic incident birthed Jack’s Pledge, a grass-roots program aimed at enhancing safety in the game of hockey. Through membership in Jack’s Pledge, hockey associations, hockey teams, hockey coaches and hockey players (boys and girls) pledge to play the Right Way - Jack's Way - by the rules, safe, smart and skillfully. The Minnesota Wild, FOX Sports North and Wells Fargo on
Thursday announced that, despite the diligent efforts of a local
event committee, the three high school hockey games originally
scheduled to be played outside at Excelsior Bay on Lake
Minnetonka as part of the sixth annual Hockey Day Minnesota
2012 was played indoors at the Pagel Activity Center in
Minnetonka on Saturday, Jan. 21. Due to unusually warm
weather in recent weeks, and more above-normal temperatures
forecast for Hockey Day, the outdoor ice that was being prepared
at Excelsior Bay (Image above) was not able to be ready in time to
provide a safe, playable surface of the quality necessary for the three consecutive high school varsity games scheduled. Vintage Minnesota Hockey yet again covered Hockey Day Minnesota through our camera lenses for the 5th straight year! ALL of the images are posted for viewing here:
