The 2010-1011 installment of the "Nothing Compares" campaign,  put together by the Minnesota High School Coaches Association (MHCA).  The MCHA again features former Minnesota High School hockey players who stayed with their H.S. teams for 4 years and are now in the NHL.  "You can't explain in words how awesome it is to throw on your hometown jersey and play in the state tournament in front of your buddies and your family at the Xcel Energy Center" Brian Lee.  Good luck Minnesota players as you skate to tryouts in the coming weeks for the 2010-2011 season....Nothing Compares

"Historical State of Hockey Images"

Welcome to our VMH.com historical State of Hockey images.  We are excited to offer Minnesota Hockey Historical photos that will be updated on a weekly basis, or when time allows!  Check back ofter for rare and never before seen photos from Minnesota's Hockey History.  We start out our new section on VMH.com with a flashback to #9, Gordie Howe, when Howe visited Minnesota for what was supposed to be one of his last games in Minnesota on April 5, 1975 at the St. Paul Civic Center vs. the Minnesota Fighting Saints.  Then Governor of Minnesota, former 1960 Gold Medal Olympian Wendell Anderson, presented Gordie with a plaque at the State Capital in St. Paul proclaiming April 5, 1975 Gordie Howe day in Minnesota.
These images are from SI's story/article from the October, 29 1990 issue about the "Fallen North Stars" following the 1990 season, that ultimately led to the partial demise of the North Stars secondary to fan attendance at Met Center in Bloomington.  And the teams relocation to Dallas following the 1993 campaign to become the Dallas Stars.  Who is more to blame?  The fans, or Norm Green for the move?
North State Tourney, then.....and now.  A retrospective difference from 1970 to 2010.  1970 Met Center Tourney Images Graciously Donated for use by David L. Johnson.
